Welcome to my Ehmooie Theresa's web site. I am Dene woman from Deh Gah Goti'e Koe Band (Fort Providence, NT). I grew up in Fort Providence with the rest of my brothers and sister. I have lived out on the land with my family before coming to the community to live. After graduating from University of Sakatoon, I came home to teach in my community. After years of teaching in English, the principal had asked if I could teach the Dene Language. That was the start of the Immersion program taught to grade 2/3 in all program in Dene Zhatie. I am currently teaching with two other teachers who are also teaching the Immersion program. The Immersion program is from Kindergarten to Grade 3. The k-3 spent some time out on the land in Fall, Winter and Spring with the teachers and some of the community members. The students are Immerse in the Language and Culture out on the land activities. The Language is very important to my people and it is our identity as a people.
